CS MEN Conference: Advancing Research in Clinical Skills Education
Friday, March 18, 2011
In April 2010, the Clinical Skills Managed Educational Network (CS MEN) invited proposals for small grants to support research and development in clinical skills in Scotland. The remit was for the research to have demonstrable benefit to the patient experience or patient safety, and focus around human factors; transferring skills from simulation into practice, measuring the impact of skills education, preparation for practice, or interprofessional aspects of skills teaching.
Nine projects, including two Masters, from all regions in Scotland were awarded funding and the results were showcased at Stirling Management Centre on 18th March. Approximately 80 healthcare educators and practitioners attended the conference which was chaired by Professor Philip Cachia, NES Executive Lead for Clinical Skills, and the keynote address was given by Dr Nikki Maran, Director of the Scottish Clinical Simulation Centre.
